Top 10 Valentine’s lingerie for women…a man’s perspective.
One of the great debates about Valentine’s day is the gift of lingerie…who is it for? If a man buys a woman lingerie, is it a gift for her, or is it really just a self serving gift? By the same token, is there a piece a lingerie that a woman has had her eye on for a while, then uses Valentine’s day as an excuse to buy it as a “gift for him”?
I say, who cares. It’s a gift for both and that’s what Valentine’s day is all about. One has to admit, however, that the tastes of men and women sometimes differ. So, if you’re a woman and you’ve had your eye on a piece of lingerie for awhile, it may not be the piece that will excite him. With that in mind, here is my top 10 list of Valentine’s day pieces of lingerie from the perspective of what I’d like to see you in….whoever you are.
1) The Best Pajamas. Let’s face it. In most of the country, it’s still pretty cold during Valentine’s day. That’s why I’ve put the Vera Wang Knit Tuck PJ set in this year’s countdown. These jammies are sublty sexy, and warmer than one might expect something so silky to be. The ruching at the bust and the wrists adds an elegant bit of detail. These pajamas are a great surprise for Valentine’s day and will keep on giving through the rest of the year. They feature a drawsting waist and are 100%
2) Best sporty, but sexy look. For the sporty, but still flirty look, I’m going with the Scanty Tank Nite Shirt this year. It’s 100% cotton and cut mid-thigh for a tantalizing look, no matter what your size. The tank night shirt is a relaxed fit, but it’s just the right bit of tight, hugging all the right curves to give an enticing clue of what lies underneath. The back features a ruched detail, but it’s doubtful your man will notice that. His eyes will be all over you.
3) Best fun set. My vote for the best fun set this year is the Mary Green “7 ways to say I love you” bag of boyshirt panties. This tasteful bag contains seven different pairs of silk boyleg panties in various shades of pink, red and white. Each pair of panties has the words “I love you” embroidered in one of seven different languages. They are accented with lace on the waistband and around the legs. This set is a fun, yet sexy way for any woman to impress her man.
4) Speaking of panties, my vote for best Valentine’s panties this year are the Hanky Panky Low rise thong panties. Now, I will confess that these won’t work for everyone. In fact, they’re only offered in small or extra small. That’s the way it should be. Every body type is beautiful, but there are certain things that complement certain body types better than others. These are for the very slender women. This is your chance to show off that slim mid section and turn your man on at the same time.
5) If you’re full figured, don’t fret. My vote this Valentine’s day for the best full-figured bra is the Freya Eva plunge underwire bra. It’s a wonderful way to show off some of your fabulous cleavage and features full underwire cups for comfortable support. The polka dot pattern is great for Valentine’s day, whether you choose the pink or black version. The satin stretch straps are fully adjustable and the back closure features two rows and three columns of hook and eye closure so you’ll be comfortable and sexy all at the same time.
6) My pick for best bra and panty set this year is the Aubade Bahia Demi underwire cup bra and brief set. This demi bra features great floral detail on the straps, across the cups and edging around the cleavage. It’s offered in a wide variety of sizes, ranging from 30A to 38E, so it will work for just about any figure….that is if you’re a fan of the demi style
7) For something a little more sensual, my favorite Romantic lingerie piece is the August Silk Romantic Roses Tap Set. This lovely set looks and feels great, hanging subtly off every seductive curve. The flowing pink camisole features thin, elegant straps with a rich floral pattern while the loose fitting tap shorts just barely cover the derriere, offering a fun and flirty look that will drive your man wild.
8) I’ve yet to meet a man who hasn’t at least once fantasized about a woman in thigh high stockings, so my pick for best Garter Belt this year is the Felina Nicole Garter Belt. This elegant garter belt is constucted of semi-sheer mesh with a polka dot and floral pattern. The back features a 3 column, 3 row hook and eye closure. The straps stretch and are fully adjustable. Combine this excellent accessory with the Felina Nicole seamless push-up bra (reviewed by Rachel), and the Felina Nicole Low Rise Thong Panty for a sophisticated, yet inexpensive combination. Add a pair of Berkshire lace top stockings, and your favorite man will be in heaven.
9) Feeling really sexy? My pick for the sexiest thing you’ll probably only wear on Valentine’s Day is the Charnos Frilled Net Babydoll Chemise. This piece is the epitome of “I want to make love to you right now” lingerie. It falls seductively across the middle of the derriere and is fastened by a ribbon bow in the front for easy removal when the time is right. Unfortunately, it’s only offered from 32A to 36D, but it’s bound to make a few lucky guys very, very happy.
10) Finally, not everything needs to be for the bedroom. My pick for the best thing to wear to dinner on Valentine’s Day is the Convertible Halter Dress from Fredericks of Hollywood. This incredibly sexy dress is availble in most sizes and allows you to choose from three great looks. The knee length dress is made of shiny knit and features a sexy halter neckline. It’s sexy without being trashy and will have you man thinking about nothing but you all night long.
So, there you have it ladies. My favorites for this Valentine’s day. Remember, that not all of these look good on all women, so be sure to consider your body type when choosing the right lingerie for your special night. Everyone is beautiful, but like all clothing, some lingerie flatters different body types better than others. Enjoy your evening, and always remember that the sexier you feel, the sexier you are.
